Profile
I am interested in how people interact with the spatial environment from cognitive and developmental perspectives. I study how people remember their environment, how people explore new places, and how and why people get lost. From a cognitive perspective, I study how perception, attention, learning, memory, and decision making will determine the process in which we acquire the spatial environment. From a developmental perspective, I study how various spatial abilities develop in early and middle childhood and in people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This line of research has implications for designing more friendly environment for children and people with intellectual disabilities. It also has implications for developing training programs to improve people's spatial abilities.
Specialization
Cognitive Development in typically developing and atypically developing children and adults including people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Individual difference (e.g, gender, age, ability) in spatial cognition and visual search.
